Our creator never ceases to amaze me as I learn something more about His intricate design of the human body every day.

From since I can remember, I’ve been intrigued with the particular phases of fetal development in the womb from the details of the birthing process to the vulnerable postpartum period of a woman.

It stems from being the eldest of five children and there being a 12-year gap between me and the youngest. I was surrounded by the miracle of children my entire childhood and it captured my attention every time.

“From a young age, I set my heart to care for moms and babies and there were only a handful of careers that did this.”

Throughout my years of being a nurse, I continued to stay curious about my bedside practice and my patient’s conditions.

I often found it challenging to see how care was being managed, especially with the limited focus on preventative care. I came to understand why– it’s difficult to prioritize education when there’s just simply not enough time OR staff. The focus naturally shifts to addressing immediate needs, such as emergencies and high-acuity patients.

With that being said, I quickly realized hospitals treat symptoms first and foremost. Being naturally curious, I always desired to understand more, to dig deep into the physiology of where things went away, and never stopped asking “Why?”

In the operating room, I asked:

  • Why was my patient suffering from severe bone-on-bone arthritis and needing a knee replacement?

  • What did they do for a career and what did their diet look like throughout their adult years?

  • Could this situation have been prevented?

In the emergency room, I asked:

  • Why did this patient come back time and time again with gallbladder issues for three consecutive months?

  • Why was the treatment always pain medications or surgical intervention? Wasn’t there more we could do for him at the cellular level?

In Labor & Deliver, I asked:

  • Why are gestational diabetes, c-sections, and preeclampsia on the rise?

  • Why are there so many medical inductions? What can we do to lower these numbers?

In 2023, I decided to step away from the hospital setting, knowing I could make a greater impact by focusing on preventative care. That's why I started Rooted in Nutrition, with the goal of:

- Addressing the root causes

- Helping women optimize their health through diet and lifestyle adjustments

- Staying curious and open to deeper answers

Through Rooted in Nutrition, I hope to empower women to nurture themselves so they can, in turn, nurture their families. Motherhood is a beautiful journey, and I want to help make it even more fulfilling by supporting your health with personalized nutrition, lifestyle changes, and supplements where needed.

I Knew I Needed To Help Women In A Way That Was Missing From A Traditional Medical Setting

The most rewarding part of my career has been working in labor and delivery, yet I often found myself with unanswered questions that left me feeling limited in how I could support moms. I longed to do more, to truly help mothers thrive throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, but I realized there were constraints beyond my control and it was rare to see that.

I believe motherhood is one of the most special times in life, and every mother deserves to feel supported & nurtured through all phases! Over the past decade, I’ve come to understand that true health goes beyond treating symptoms. It's about preventing imbalances before they even arise.

Together, we can make this experience brighter, more enjoyable, and deeply nourishing!

FAQs

About A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

Who can benefit from Nutritional Therapy?

Everyone can benefit from nutritional therapy because it targets dietary and lifestyle choices. A few tweaks in these areas can make massive impacts on an individual’s health. A few common imbalances in the body where nutritional therapy can support:

● Digestive imbalances (bloating, low stomach acid, excessive bacterial overgrowth)

● Poor detoxification processes in the body

● Skin conditions (acne, eczema, etc.)

● Food intolerances

● Women’s hormonal imbalances, infertility, perimenopause, menopause and postmenopausal phases

● Fatigue, brain fog, low energy

● Immune dysfunction

● Chronic conditions

● Autoimmune issues

My calling is to provide health and nutrition services to anyone curious about their health concerns, seeking root causes, and wanting to take control back. Because finding the root cause is a priority, you understand that the journey to moving the needle will take time and that part of this journey is trial and error. You’re committed to learning, growing, changing, and adapting. If this is you, I would love to take part in your journey!

Who is this not for?

Nutritional therapy is not for someone who is looking for medical diagnoses, pharmaceutical support, a quick fix, or is not willing to commit to changes.

What does it mean when you say “root cause?”

The root cause is digging deep into the body’s physiology to see where these concerns are stemming from. The body works together system by system, cell by cell and when one piece of the body is imbalanced, it has a domino effect throughout the rest of the body.

For example, if an individual has bloating, we need to ask why and break down the possibilities to seek the reasons.

  • Are they living in a sympathetic state causing them to not digest their food properly?

  • Do they have low stomach acid which inhibits proper digestion, etc.?

  • Do they have an underlying condition that has gone undiagnosed like PCOS?

It’s important to peel back the layers to find the root of the issue so that the proper physiology function can play its role and set balance and homeostasis into motion.

Do you guarantee results or do I get my money back?

Due to the nature of this work, there are no refunds but I work diligently with my clients to set them up for success by actively listening and fully grasping to their concerns and goals.

In addition, results are not guaranteed the necessary changes must come directly from you. I will provide support and guidance but ultimately you're responsible for taking action with your protocol. Success comes from digging deep into all areas of health (physically, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally) to create a balance that reduces the stressors and strengthens the defenses.
